Up and Down the Mountains we go!!

Today we went to the mountains.  The first one we drove up was Mount Tamborine, quite intense drive but beautiful when we arrived at the top.  There we enjoyed yummy coffee and the view!

Okay, now we have to GO DOWN the mountain!!  Small roads, curves, places of one lane only....intense!

We then sit at the bottom of the second mountain, discussing if I am okay to go to the top.  It is higher than the first...  I did not want to go up but knew if I wanted to feed the wild birds I had to.  Then Kevin played dirty!!!!  "Sonia would do it!", he says.  He knows that is like saying "Double-dog Dare Ya"!!  I cursed him with words I won't mention here, lol, and up the Mountain we went!

I gritted my teeth, held my breath, and had a death grip on the seat.....but I made it!

O'Rilley's Rain Forest Retreat, what a beautiful place.  On top of the mountain, in the middle of the wilderness.  And I did get to feed the wild birds!  And absolutely loved every second of it!!

Now, God Help Me, we have to go back the way we came!!  Back down the mountain.

On the way down we saw two wild Wallabies, and a Taipan snake (extremely poisonous).  There are no pictures of these creatures as my fingers and dashboard were as one!  Just saying....

Peaceful Sunday!

Sunday, we had a lovely quiet day. We did some visiting and on our way home we stopped at Dennis Lake, it's a man made lake situated right next to Daisy Hill Koala Center.

It is a very peaceful area, you would not know you were living in a city there.  The lake is occupied by various species of ducks and turtles, all of which you can feed, which makes for great photos.

This Lake was dammed in 1951, shortly thereafter there was a huge rainstorm.....it filled the lake with water in four hours, the lake has never been empty of water since.

Beautiful Winter's Day at Jacob's Well

Today we traveled to a place called Jacob's Well to see if we could spot some Pelicans!!  Once again, I was not disappointed.

These birds are huge but it is hard to tell from the photos; I was hoping to catch one in flight, unfortunately, these two were lazy buggers!!!

And I also saw "A GEORGE", could not believe my eyes!!

We met some interesting chaps who were members of the Jacob's Well Rescue, it is manned by VOLUNTEERS!!!  How interesting is that!

This part of Queensland is known for growing Sugar Cane, acres and acres of it!!

We then traveled the beautiful motorway to Surfer's Paradise again, to another part of the beach.  What a stunning place!  The helicopters fly overhead regularly on the lookout for anyone in trouble....and SHARKS!!!!!!

What a beautiful place this is!!!
